Mississauga is hosting the Ontario 55+ Summer Games from Friday, August 10th to Sunday, August 12th.

It’s the first time the GTA city has held the unique event for participants 55 years of age and older from across the province.

It’s a multi-sport event that organizers say promotes active living, also encourages volunteerism, contributes to local tourism and economic activity and helps communities build their experience and resources to host large-scale events.

Sports include everything from golf to shuffleboard to pickleball, and darts to slo-pitch to tennis, among others.

The games are part of Game ON, the Ontario government’s Sport Plan to participate and excel in sports.

Supporting athletes is part of the government’s economic plan to grow the economy and create jobs.

The plan is also helping working Ontarians achieve a more secure retirement.
