A government-backed research report claims that we Canadians are becoming less able to prepare food and to handle it safely.
The recently released report says there has been a deterioration in Canadians’ confidence in their ability to keep their families safe from food poisoning and food-borne illness.
It says a majority of seniors and pregnant women don’t believe they are at greater risk than other people, but they are.
The report recommends a low-key public awareness campaign by the government about how to handle food properly.
It suggests that it be done in a way that won’t undermine public confidence in Canada’s food safety programs or the agri-food industry.
