Canada will be taking in some of the members of a Syrian volunteer organization who were evacuated from their country and are now in Jordan. The Israeli military says it rescued 800 volunteers known as White Helmets who were stranded along the frontier with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. A Jordanian official says the Syrians are set to remain in Jordan for three months before moving on to Canada, Britain and Germany. There are reports Canada will accept up 250 and that includes 50 members of the group and their family members. In a statement released early this morning, Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland pledged Canada’s continued support for the White Helmets.
