Canada’s trade squabble with the U.S. took a new direction Friday when Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland listed a 16.6 billion dollar bundle of American imports to be hit with retaliatory tariffs on Canada Day.

It’s in retaliation for recent tariffs placed on Candian steel and Aluminum by the Trump administration.

Along with our own retaliatory tariffs on steel and aluminum, a wide range of consumer products from lawn mowers, to ketchup to playing cards will be subjetc to 10 percent duties.

Freeland says Canada’s tariffs will stay until President Trump lifts his tariffs on Canadian goods.

There are fears ‘though that these additional tariffs could cause Trump to impose tariffs on our automotive sector.
