A new low-cost Canadian airline takes flight Tuesday. Swoop, an offshoot of Westjet Airlines, makes its inaugural flight from Hamilton to Abbotsford B.C and promises discount prices by cutting extras unless you want to pay for them. Swoop will fly out of secondary Canadian airports.
Airline analysts expect competition will increase significantly over the next year as Canada Jetlines gears up to join Swoop in offering discount fares. Swoop says fares should be up to 40 percent lower than a national carrier. The company is starting with two planes and plans to roll out six by the end of the year.
