Toronto Mayor John Tory says the city’s animal-resistant green bins are effective, despite a viral video of a clever raccoon breaking into one. The clip has been seen more than 25,000 times. It shows the smart rodent turning the latch and lifting the lid of the bin, then diving in. Tory says reports of animals getting in are largely due to loose screws or other flaws. But he jokingly warns that the video should be kept under wraps, to prevent the method spreading throughout the raccoon population.
