After just a year on the job, Debora L. Spar is quitting her job as president of New York City’s Lincoln Center.
Spar was the president of Barnard College in New York for nine years before becoming the head of the iconic center for the performing arts.
She took over the job after her predecessor, Jed Bernstein resigned in May 2016 when an investigation found he was having a personal relationship with an employee and failed to disclose it to Lincoln Centre.
The Centre is home to a number of famous arts organizations, including the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Opera and the New York City Ballet.
Spar told colleagues on Friday that she had doubts about whether the job was right for her, and that the fit she had hoped for had not materialized.
