As the Ontario legislature resumes sitting today for the final session before a spring election, former PC leader Patrick Brown says he won’t be there to take his seat. This morning he told a Windsor radio station that he’ll be outside of Toronto today, campaigning to regain party leadership. But once he gets back to the legislature, Brown will have to sit as an independent after being booted out of the Tory caucus last week just hours before he declared his intention to run for his old job. His no-show comes as an explosive report in today’s Globe links Brown to a $375,000 business deal with the PC candidate in the riding of Brampton North. The report claims Brown was in talks to sell an interest in a restaurant he partially owns and some Aeroplan miles for close to $375,000 to Johal. Brown is denying the allegations and states he has NO business dealings with Johal and that no deal was ever done. Bank documents around that time show Brown bought a waterfront home on Lake Simcoe for 2.3 million..not long after depositing $375,000 in his personal bank account. But Brown says his family helped him buy the house. Online voting takes place early next month, with the winner to be announced March 10. The Tory turmoil comes as all three parties gear up for a general election set for June 7. Patrick Brown will be Libby Znaimer’s studio guest on Wednesday’s FIGHT BACK.
