One of the most famous and iconic landmarks in Britain celebrates its 20th anniversary this month.
It’s hard to miss the imposing contemporary art sculpture “Angel of the North”- it’s 20 metres high and weighs 200 tonnes. Artist Antony Gormley was selected to create the steel statue in in 1998. His creation represents a personal story about a strong connection to his own guardian angel as a child. “Angel of the North” has been seen by more people each year than the Mona Lisa.
