It was anything but routine for people heading back to school and work today after the Christmas break. There were major disruptions in Toronto’s east end after a massive power outage that affected 20 thousand customers. Toronto Hydro tweeted shortly before 9 a.m. that service was fully restored. It caused all kinds of problems not only for Toronto hydro customers but it affected the roads and public transit. Traffic lights were out and the TTC suspended service on line 2 east of Broadview station. Shuttle buses were brought in to get commuters to work. Full subway service was back up by 9:30 with some delays. The outage included an area bound by Eglinton East, Lakeshore, Yonge and Victoria Park. And the snow caused some treacherous driving conditions. Toronto could get 4 centimeters of snow by Monday afternoon and up to 10 centimeters in areas north and east of the Great Lakes.
