Toronto’s Mayor has launched a new program to clean up Yonge Dundas Square. John Tory calls the area the “heart of the city” where people come to both celebrate and mourn. Tory announced the holiday “Clean Sweep Blitz” to improve everything from policing to public health. Tory says the popular tourist area is also home to thousands of students and businesses. The initiative is the result of a meeting between the city, Ryerson University and downtown businesses to bring the area up to potential. The sweep will run for one month before before reviewed in January.
