Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had an informal one-on-one meeting with U-S President Donald Trump Saturday at the G-7 summit in Taormina, Italy on the island of Sicily.
Trade was a key topic, with Trump recently starting the countdown to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement between Canada, the U-S and Mexico. It’s something he promised to do during the election campaign last year.
A statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office said that Mr. Trudeau and Mr. Trump reaffirmed “the deepest economic partnership in the world.”
The statement pointed out that trade between the two countries was close to 882 billion dollars last year, and that it creates jobs.
