Experts are hoping a terrifying video out of Richmond BC this weekend will teach people a lesson about feeding wildlife.
The video posted to YouTube shows a sea lion dragging a girl into the water at a Vancouver-area wharf. A man leapt into the water, scooped up the girl and hauled her to safety. Vancouver Aquarium marine mammal trainer Danielle Hyson says the sea lion shows signs of frustration in the video after people on the dock stop tossing bread crumbs into the water. Hyson says people need to remember that sea lions are big, powerful wild animals but people consider them water dogs. Hyson says the more people feed wild animals, the more we’ll see dangerous run-ins between people and wildlife.
