France has a new president.
39-year-old Emmanuel Macron, the youngest president in France’s history, was inaugurated Sunday in an elaborate ceremony at the Elysee Palace in Paris, complete with a 21-gun salute.
The independent centrist met for an hour with his predecessor, Socialist Francois Hollande prior to being sworn in.
Macron will be trying to win a majority in France’s parliamentary elections in June, and says he and his “Republic On The Move” movement hope to reinvigorate French politics.
