Many older Zoomers can remember the artwork of Norman Rockwell that graced the cover of the Saturday Evening Post magazine, and how he beautifully illustrated a slice of Americana with people sharing a special moment in time.

A New Jersey family lucky enough to own an actual Rockwell original has had it returned to them after it was stolen from their home over 40 years ago.

An aniques dealer, who thought it was a print, not an original, had it hanging in his home all that time.

The FBI discovered it, and the family that owned it knew it was theirs because of a hole that was put there by their father when he hit it with a pool cue.

The 1919 painting, known as “Lazybones” and “Taking a Break,” was purchased by the father for 50 dollars after damaging it at a friend’s house.  It’s now valued at over a million dollars.

It shows a young boy having a nap on the ground beside his dog and a garden how that he’s supposed to be using.
