Britain’s foreign intelligence service, MI6, wants more females and ethnic minorities to become agents, and it’s using movie theatre advertising to reach potential recruits.

Agents with MI6 were made famous by Ian Fleming’s “James Bond” novels which were turned into one of the most successful movie faranchises in history.

The 30-second theatre ads are titled “But She Could,” and show a young woman in everyday situations from working in a flower shop, to running with friends to calming down a tense situation in a coffee shop.

The ad suggests the woma has the skills that MI6 is looking for: teamwork, the ability to read emotions and dealing with delicate situations.

Officials are trying to promote more diversity in the MI6 Secret Intelligence Service, (SIS) and its message to potential recruits is that if you share our values there’s a future for you here.

The agency hopes the ad dispels the myth that its agents only come from Oxford and Cambridge Universities and are very skilled in hand-to-hand combat.
