The Ontario Ministry of Health is investigating retail giant Costco over its selling of over-the-counter and pharmaceutical drugs.
The investigation involves Costco’s compliance with provincial legislation.
It follows an announcement by the Ontario College of Pharmacists that two Costco pharmacy directors would be facing disciplinary hearings. It’s alleged the two stocked certain brands in return for kickbacks.
That’s a violation of the Ontario Drug Benefit Act that operators, pharmacists and staff can’t accept rebates for stocking a certain drug.
