Even though the latest offer from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers was rejected, the two sides continued their efforts to avoid a strike or lockout.
Changes to employee pension plans is the main hurdle in reaching an agreement according to both sides.
Before initiating a strike or lockout, Canada Post and the union must give the other side 72 hours notice.
