Our country is now 149 years old, and Canadians were out in full force today to celebrate from coast to coast to coast.
It was a sea of red on Parliamanet Hill in Ottawa where thousands enjoyed a variety of musical acts as well as words from Governor General David Johnston and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau said that while we in Canada celebrate differences that make us unique, we also know that we’re united.
And he stressed the importance of Canadian values such as respect, kindness and generosity.
It’s a night for fireworks to punctuate the Canada Day festivities, with huge displays being held here in Toronto as well as all of our major cities.
