Canada Day is a day we hoist a flag, wear something with a maple leaf on it, sing Oh Canada, and think about our great country as we enjoy a day off at the best time of the year.
At least it’s that way in most corners of our vast nation. However, many Quebecers shun the day we celebrate our country’s birthday, and opt instead to take part in festivities on “La Fete Nationale” or “Saint Jean-Baptiste Day” on June 24th.
But one Montreal MP is going to make sure Canada Day is a big day in her riding.
Federal Heritage Minister Melanie Joly says she’s going to make sure her riding of Ahuntsic-Cartierville has Canada Day celebrations this year.
She unveiled details, which inclued performances by such artists as “Alex Cuba,” “Metric” and “Les Hay Babies” from New Brunswick.
