Motion picture director Sophia Coppola is going from movies to opera.
The Academy Award winner is going to direct a production of Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Rome Opera House.
Coppola accepted an invitation from famed fashion designer Valentino to direct the production. Valentino is doing the costumes.
Coppola says it will be scary and very unfamiliar for her, but that the opportunity to work in the Rome Opera House with very beautiful costumes has motivated her.
Coppola won an Oscar in 2003 for Best Original Screenplay for the Bill Murray comedy-drama “Lost In Translation.”
