There’s been more strutting on the world stage by North Korea.
The rogue nation says it test-fired a ballistic missile from a submarine, something the U-S State Department says violates a number of U-N Security Council resolutions.
Before the North’s announcement, military officials in South Korea said it appears its neighbour fired a missile from a sub off the eastern coast of the Korean peninsula.
North Korean television showed photos and videos of what it says was the launch, and of Kim Jong Un apparently on hand for the event.
Experts in South Korea say they doubt the North has an operational submarine capable of firing multiple missiles, but say the North appears to be making progress.
North Korean Foreigh Minister Ri Su Yong says ihis country defends its right to maintain a nuclear deterrent, but would stop its nuclear tests if the U-S and South Korea suspend their annual military exercises.
