A senior official in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s office says Canada still intends to take its CF-18 fighter jets out of the airstrikes against the Islamic State in spite of the horrific terrorist attacks in Paris.
Trudeau campaigned on the issue, saying Canadians want our efforts put into training programs for those fighting ISIL on the ground, and into humanitarian campaigns.
Andrew Mack, a security expert with One Earth Future Foundation says our country’s contribution to the coalition bombing mission is minimal.
Opposition Leader Rona Ambrose says Canada should be standing shoulder to shoulder with our allies who are fighting ISIL, not stepping away from supporting them.
