The Nobel Prize for economics goes to a Scot who teaches in the U.S.

Angus Deaton, a microeconomist, has been awarded the Nobel Prize for economic sciences for what the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences calls “his analysis of consumption, poverty and welfare.”

He currently is a professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton University in New Jersey.

Deaton, who was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1945, will also receive a payment of 8-million Swedish kronor, or about $975,000.00 U.S.

All of this year’s Nobel winners have now been announced.
