The area around the busy intersection of Bay and Adelaide Streets in downtown Toronto has been closed off after fears that an antenna atop the Trump Tower building had been swaying, and appeared to be unstable.

Police were called at about 8:00 a.m. Monday when hotel staff spotted the large antenna moving.

An engineer was called to the scene to determine if, in fact, the structure has somehow become loose, and if it poses a danger.

Police say the area will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until at least 10:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Bay Street is closed from King Street to Richmond. Adelaide is also closed eastbound from York Street to Bay.

TTC busses are being diverted around the area.
