New Orleans is marking the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
The powerful and devastating storm blasted onto the Gulf Coast marshes, swamps and islands of south Louisiana, and up the Mississippi to the iconic, low-lying city.
Its winds reached 225 km/hr, and its blinding rain submerged entire neighbourhoods in New Orleans.
It caused more than 1,800 deaths and over 150 billion dollars in damage.
Celebrations are taking place over the weekend, as well as ceremonies to remember those who died, and to honour those who returned and those who came to help.
