RESTRICTIONS EASED FOR OLDER BLOOD DONORS

There are changes in the works to some of the eligibility restrictions for older people giving blood.

Canadian Blood Services, the agency that operates blood donor clinics in Canada, will be lifting some of the restrictions and loosening the rules for new and dedicated donors who are over 61 years of age.

CBS official Dr. Mindy Goldman they want to recognize the contributions made by older donors.

Beginning this fall, older donors will no longer have to provide a letter from a doctor.
