The University of Michigan is the recipient of a draft of an Orsan Welles memoir.
The unpublished, raw draft was in eight boxes of material the university purchased from Oja Kodar, the Croatian filmmaker who was Welles’ partner and collaborator for 24 years before his death at the age of 70 in 1985.
Included in the memoir are passages about Welles’ parents, his second wife Rita Hayworth and Ernest Hemingway.
The draft will join the university’s archives on the trailblazing filmaker.
