Toronto Police Board Chair Alok Mukherjee wants to cut back on services performed by off-duty officers.

Mukherjee says it tarnishes the force’s image by having officers stand around construction sites or be rented out as security guards at Blue Jays games.

He’s currenlt working with the city and the province to determine when and where officers must be present. For example, he would like to see requirements at construction sites be relaxed.

Mukherjee will likely get an argument from the police union whose members make a lot of extra income doing paid duty work.
