A major Toronto roadway is closed for the weekend, but at least it`s providing a bit of entertainment.

Bleachers have been set up so that spectators can watch two giant tunnel boring machines being moved across Allen Road.

The machines, each weighing 400 tonnes, have been digging out the western segment of the Eglinton Crosstown underground tunnel.

After being lifted across the Allen, they can then begin digging the eastern portion toward Yonge Street.

While the Allen is closed, Toronto Transportation Services will do regular maintenance and cleaning work.

The Allen will re-open by 5 am Monday.
