Air Canada passengers on a flight from Toronto had a terrifyng landing in Halifax early Sunday morning.

The aircraft suffered a “hard landing” during a blizzard, and skidded on its belly, breaking off an engine, part of the landing gear and part of its nose in the process.

There was a blizzard in the Halifax area at the time, although there’s no word if weather might have been a factor. The plane landed just after midninght, with officials calling it a “hard landing.” The plane – flight AC-624 – was carrying 133 passengers and a crew of 5. 23 passengers and two crew members were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The last person still being being treated is expected to be released from hospital Sunday afternoon. Many passengers say it took a long time for someone to take them to the terminal building, and in the meantime they had to huddle together outdoors in blankets in freezing temparatures.
