Finally a sendoff fit for a king.

The remains of King Richard the Third have been transferred from the University of Leicester to Leicester Cathedral in central England.  They will lie in state there until a reinternment ceremony on Thursday.

The bones of the medieval king were found under a  parking lot, buried in a church that had been demolished long ago.

The skeleton was found in 2012, more than 500 years after he was killed in the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.   D-N-A from a Canadian descendent helped make a positive identification of the remains.

In Thursday’s ceremony, organizers will lower the coffin of Richard III into a tomb at Leicester Cathedral.
