It’s often called the Nobel Prize For Teaching.
Nancie Atwell, a 63 year old teacher from Southport, Maine has won the “Global Teacher Prize” in Dubai, and the 1-million dollars that goes with it.
Arwell has been a teacher since 1973, and founded the Centre for Teaching and Learning in Southport. It’s a non-profit demonstration school for developing and disseminating teaching methods,
The award recognizes achievement in and out of the cassroom, as well as innovative instructional practices and efforts to improve access to quality education.
The Global Tracher Prize” is awarded annually by the Varkey Foundation which focuses on education issues.
