There was an outpouring of sorrow and support as mourners gathered throughout the day Saturday to pay their respects to little Elijah Marsh.
The 3-year-old boy died Thursday after wandering out of his grandmoter’s apartment into bitterly cold temperatures at about 4:30 in the morning wearing just a shirt, boots and diapers.
He was found curled up in the snow almost six hours later and was rushed to hospital where he died.
At a makeshift memorial site near the grandmother’s apartment Saturday, Elijah’s mother Georgette Marsh expressed her gratitude to everyone who offered condolences and support.
His grandmother, Claudette Marsh, described Elijah as a happy, caring child.
Toronto Mayor John Tory also visited the site to offer his condolences, both personally as a father and grandfarher, and on behalf of the entire city as well.
