DON HARRON DIES: AND SO DOES CHARLIE FARQUHARSON

Don Harron has passed away.

The Canadian entertainment icon, known best for his alter ego character Charlie Farquharson  died Saturday surrounded by friends at his Toronto home. Harron was 90.  His eldest daughter Martha said he declined to be put on life support after receiving treatment for cancer.

As Farquharson, Harron appeared on the American televsion comedy show Hee Haw, doing his version of the latest news.

 Behind the scenes, Harron helped create the musical stage version of the Lucy Maude Montgomery classic “Anne of Green Gables.”

For his contribution to the arts, Harron was made a Member of The Order of Canada in 1980
