UN Climate talks have wrapped up in Lima, Peru after negotiators reached a compromise deal that sets the stage for approval of a new international climate pact next year in Paris.

Some developing countries had slowed approval of the deal by accusing wealthier countries of shirking their responsibilities in fighting global warming, and in paying for the damage it inflicts.

Ultimately the poorer nations managed to get language in the deal that meets their approval, although some environmentalists aren`t impressed.

One says the text of the deal went from weak to weaker to weakest.
