John Tory says he would vote against city funding for Pride Toronto if the group “Queers Against Israeli Apartheid” is allowed to march in the annual parade.

Calling it an anti-Semitic message, Tory said it’s a matter of principle, and that it’s “just not right”  that the group be allowed in a parade that receives city funding.

Tory was speaking at a mayoralty debate with fellow candidate Olivia Chow Saturday hosted by the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre.

Chow says she respects the process that led to Council’s decision to fund the parade.

Tory said he would sit down with Pride organizers to try to reach some sort of accomodation that would keep the “Queers Against Israeli Apartheid” out of the parade.
