The Los Angeles Opera has extended Placido Domingo’s contract as general director through the 2018 – 2019 season.
The famed 73 year-old tenor became the opera company’s artistic consultant in 1984; he was artistic director from 2001 to 2003, and was then appointed general director.
The new deal with Domingo was announced Friday by the LA Opera’s board of directors.
Domingo appears this month in his 26th role with the company. He sings the part of Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s “La Traviata.”
