Many of us often feel we need a vacation to recover from our vacation.
And that’s not unusual according to Human Resources Professor Jane O’Reilly at the University of Ottawa.
She says vacations often don’t decrease stress levels that are long-term work-related. O’Reilly says the stress relief will more than likely last only as long the vacation.
She and fellow professor Laurent Lapierre have some tips to dial down stress levels. Among them: Keep vacation plans simple; be mentally and logistically prepared for your workload upon your return; and take daily, mini-vacations, like taking a 20-minute walk during lunch breaks.
