Supporters came out by the hundreds for Ford Fest Friday  evening at Thompson Memorial Park in Scarborough.

The annual barbecue party put on by Toronto Mayor Rob Ford appered to be a success, with no overt campaigning by the mayor, and only a minor disruption by demonstrators.

Ford was warned that because the event was being held on a city park no campaingnig could take place.

A few demonstrators showed up to protest what they said was the mayor’s homophobia for not taking part in a standing ovation when city council applauded the work done by orgaizers of World Pride events.

Ford supporters shouted down the protesters while the mayor was busy shaking hands, posing for pictures, and signing autographs.
