Singer-songwriter Jesse Winchester has died at the age of 69.
Winchester was a Louisiana-born Vietnam war draft-dodger who moved to Montreal in 1967, and became a Canadian citizen in 1973.
His songs were recorded by a variety of artists, including Anne Murray, Wynona Judd, the Everly Brothers and Joan Baez.
He gained amnesty for his draft avoidance in 1977, and moved back to the U.S. in 2002.
Winchester passed away at his home in Virginia on Friday.
