Health authorities across Manitoba are being told to take steps to ensure patients make it through their front door when they’re sent home by taxi.
Two elderly Winnipeg men recently died after being discharged from hospital around New Year’s Day.
The temperature was in the minus 30s, and the men had been sent home by cab.
They were found dead near their front doorsteps.
Susan Eng, Vice president Advocacy for CARP says it’s the hospital’s responsibility to make sure patients get home safely.
The Winnipeg health authority is investigating both cases.
