C-N Rail says it has an excellent safety record.
It’s defending its record after a third derailment in a month that involved hazerdous materials.
The most recent one took place Saturday when 13 tanker cars derailed west of Edmonton. They were carrying oil and liquefied petrolium gas .
There was an explosion and massive fire, but fortunately no one was injured.
About a hundred people were evacuated from the nearby village of Gainford while officials let the fire burn itself out.
C-N’s Mark Hallman says more than 99 percent of the railway’s hazerdous goods shipments get to their destination without any problems.
