A new study from Simon Fraser University in B.C. says that seniors in long-term care facilities have a high risk of falling, and that many suffer from head injuries when they do so.

According to the research, such falls are increasing, particularly in people over the age of eighty.

The study was based on video footage that showed 227 falls by 133 long-term care residents.

The researchers suggest that flooring that could cushion falls but at the same time not impair footing could help prevent serious injury to the head.
