Julie Harris, one of Broadway’s most honoured performers, has died at the age of 87.
Harris died Saturday of congestive heart failure at her home in West Chatham, Massachusetts.
She won five Tony Awards for best actress, including for her performance as Emily Dickinson in her one-woman show “The Belle of Amherst”, and as Sally Bowles in “I Am A Camera”.
In films she was James Dean’s co-star in “East Of Eden”, and in television she played the free-spirited Lilimae Clements in the 1980s series “Knots Landing.”
