Our Foreign Affairs Department  is confirming that two Ontario men were arrested in Egypt’s on-going turmoil.

Spokeswoman Caitlin Workman says Canada’s embassy in Cairo has contacted local authorities about the matter, and is providing consular assistance.  She says she’s unable to give out more information because of privacy concerns.

The two men are John Greyson, a Toronto based filmmaker and York University professor, and Dr. Tarek Loubani, an emergency room physician from London, Ontario.

The pair were arrested Friday in Cairo.
