Passenger security checks, more inspections of checked baggage, and even sniffer dogs could be in the near future for Via Rail.
Documents released under the Access to Information Act indicate these and other measures are being considered by Canada’s national passenger train service following the arrests in April of two men believed to be plotting the bombing of a train running between Toronto and New York City.
In a response at the time, Via increased security, including the hiring of more guards.
