An American soldier’s lawyer says her client — who fled to Canada to avoid the Iraq war — may appeal a ruling that she must be deported back to the U-S.
Kimberly Rivera’s lawyer says she may challenge the order on the grounds that there were legal errors in her pre-removal risk assessment.
Several groups are rallying behind Rivera, who fled to Canada five years ago to avoid going back to Iraq. She lives in Toronto with her husband and four young children.
She’s been told to leave the country by September 20th, but Amnesty International, the Canadian Labour Congress and other groups are speaking out against her deportation.
