All passengers and a driver on a TTC bus in west Toronto have escaped without injury after live power lines fell onto the vehicle.
A construction crane collapsed just before 2:00 a.m. Monday, knocking down power lines and trapping those inside the bus.
TTC spokeswoman Milly Bernal says all 28 people on the bus got off the vehicle — near Kipling Avenue and Rexdale Boulevard — after power in the area was cut.
Police Supt. Ron Taverner says the crane operator has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Toronto Hydro says around 400 customers in the nearby areas are affected by the power shutdown.
Taverner says the road could be closed for days as crews clear away the downed power lines and the toppled crane.
