Zoomer Radio has some incredible partners that have stepped up to support their communities. We’re proud to shine a spotlight on them! Each partner is unique and are offering different ways to help out communities during these uncertain times.
#StopCovid19
The City of Toronto is heading towards the critical phase of COVID-19 and our healthcare workers are starting to feel the stress of being low on personal protective equipment. Dr. Joseph Y. K Wong has partnered with different charities and community organizations to launch #StopCovid19, a fundraising campaign to help provide personal protective equipment to our frontline healthcare workers. The New Classical FM is the official radio sponsor of this program. For more information or make a donation, click here!
Scott Mission
During these uncertain times we know that now more than ever the clients of the Scott Mission rely on them to provide food and shelter. Right now they’re aiming to provide an elevated level of health and safety for our community including clients, volunteers, donors, and staff, while at the same time providing much needed services to some of the most vulnerable citizens of Toronto.
The Scott Mission continues to serve bagged lunch meals in the afternoons and hot meals Monday through Sunday. Volunteers are busy pre-packaging grocery bags with non-perishables, fruits, and veggies for families in need. The Men’s Overnight Shelter continues to remain open and they’ve added an additional room to help space out the beds in order to meet social distancing regulations. They’ve upped their cleaning requirements and welcomed a nurse to their staff who is safely monitoring the health of both clients and staff.
All other programs that the Scott Mission offers are currently closed, but they’re doing their best to stay in touch with clients as much as they can – the youth staff are even hosting regular Zoom meetings to keep in touch with the kids.

Toronto Humane Society
Back in mid-March, the Toronto Humane Society closed their doors to the public and made a number of operational changes. All public services including fundraising events, public viewing of animals and their spay/neuter clinic has been shut down. However, they have launched Online Training Courses such as Cat Problem Solving and Behaviour Modification, Dog Foundation Skills, and Tricks Training. They’re now offering these classes and more to help you and your furry friend keep occupied and educated while stuck at home.
Another important change THS had made is the introduction of the Digital Adoptions Program . The process is just as simple, you get to browse the pets available for adoption from the comfort of your own home and all the pets biographies are available on the website. Once you have chosen a pet, you email your application form to be reviewed. Afterwards, you will receive a phone call and be scheduled for a virtual meet and greet. With this process, you will still have access to all the resources that THS typically requires.
The Toronto Humane Society is offering free bags of pet food for owners who are struggling financially and cannot afford pet food at this time. For more details on this program call 416-329-2273.

HomeEquity Bank
Our friends at HomeEquity Bank, provider of CHIP Reverse Mortgage, have launched a new media campaign highlighting how now more than ever, home is everything. The campaign complements their Operation Warm Hug initiative that checks in on vulnerable Canadians at home. Meaningful donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross, YMCA of Greater Toronto and various charities across the country.
As part of the new campaign, and in direct support of the broader community, HomeEquity Bank is making a $50,000 donation to both the Canadian Red Cross and YMCA of Greater Toronto. The bank will also make financial donations to various charities across the country.
HomeEquity Bank will soon be launching digital education and entertainment programs for self-isolating Canadians. For updates on these programs click here!
